Increasing Your AdSense Cash

So you’ve gone through the preliminary stages and you have planned, researched and built your site. You have joined the Google AdSense scheme but three months in and you are only earning $1.00 a day. How and why?
What happened to all the AdSense cash you were planning for and expecting?

Earning true AdSense cash requires patience
First thing you have to remember is that in order to create a successful AdSense website you have to run it like a business. It takes time to gather some momentum and get people passing through your website. The beginning of most AdSense ventures are incredibly slow; so be prepared for this. It is very likely that you will be losing more than you are making in the first few months of launching your site.
But don’t let that deter you. AdSense like any business venture is about patience, persistence and riding the many storms you are going to have. Most people start making some initial AdSense cash six months to a year after they first published their website.

Different ways to increase your AdSense Earnings

Unlike a number of businesses, an AdSense project gives you a substantial amount of control over various aspects of its development. All of which can have a significant effect on the amount of AdSense cash you make.

The most important way to boost your AdSense earnings is by increasing the amount of traffic going through your site. Without visitors, there’s no AdSense cash, simple. You need to drive traffic to your site using all available methods, these include:

Adsense Cash
  • Researching keywords for demand and supply
  • Optimizing your site for the search engines (on-page SEO)
  • Making sure you have a well planned off-page optimization campaign, including writing quality keyword-rich articles, writing blogs, joining forums etc...
  • Using social bookmarking websites such as Digg and Del.icio.us

There are loads of ways to promote your site and get people interested and involved in what you have to offer. Focus on sites that are related to the general theme of your AdSense website. And never tire of promoting your site.

Also try and use alternative ways to promote your site. Try and create a newsletter subscription service, which enables you to keep in contact with visitors interested in your AdSense theme. You can also use blogs with RSS to keep the issues related to your AdSense topic current and keep visitors hooked onto your site. Constantly remind your visitors of updates and breaking news concerning your website theme.

Another way to boost you potential AdSense earnings is to make your website, good. Make sure it is well presented, easy to navigate and that it contains well written original content that fulfils the expectations of your visitors. You want your content to be tagged, you want people to put your site in their favourites list and you want visitors coming back to your website. If is good enough you might even get people promoting your site for you for free, by creating all-important back-links to your site.

Increasing CTR’s can make all the difference
Another way to increase the amount of AdSense cash you could potential make is to find ways of increasing the Click-Through-Rates (CTR). Certain sites are notoriously AdSense friendly and can easily attain CTR’s of 5% or above (which is extremely good by AdSense standards). Dieting sites, entertainment sites, gossip sites etc... have been known to achieve high CTR’s. However it can be very difficult to get high CTR’s in computer and technical sites (visitors to these sites are just too internet savvy to click on AdSense ads).
With all this in mind ad-optimization can still make a difference. Getting the visitors to ‘see’ the ads without it been unobtrusive is all important, so placement is essential as part of a successful AdSense venture.

There are no hard and fast rules that can be applied here (all website are different) so all you can do is experiment and see which one works best. Experiment with different color schemes and different formats until you get something close to your optimum CTR.
