AdSense and Search-Engine-Optimization

On-page optimization elements

Title tags are one of the most important ranking elements

The title tag is a very important on-page ranking criteria for search engines. It is the element that successfully captures the essence of your page, and for this reason it carries the highest page weighting on the Google algorithm.

The title content is also what is seen when a user makes a search engine query and your site turns up. The page title acts as the link text for a search engine result. So it is doubly important in that it must also be exciting enough for users to want to click on it and enquire further into your site.

Use your important keywords within the title tag

When using title tags use your important keywords at least once, but no more than twice. Google has become very wary of sites that use repetitive keywords, so be vigilant and use variations or synonyms of your main keywords.

Your title can be up to 80 characters long so get your keywords primed and make sure it describes your site as quickly as possible.  Also ensure that all your pages have specially written titles. Remember the title is the main on-page element. You can’t compromise if you want to maximize on all aspects of search engine optimization. So even deep third tier pages on your website need their own written title documents.

Using Meta Tags on AdSense Sites

Meta keyword tags: Always put the most important keyword first if you are putting a list of keywords within this tag. Consider using a few synonyms (but not too many). For example:

  • <meta name = "keywords" content = "marvel comics stores, comic shops, classic comics" />

Meta-description tags: Like the title tag, a small part of the description also shows up on search engines results when your page turns up. So remember to make it attractive, yet descriptive. It needs to catch the attention of a possible visitor to your site, so it has to be well put together.

  • <meta name ="description" content="Nostalgic about those golden years when you you were young and the marvellous world of marvel comics seemed so real? Digital comic stores takes you back to those fanstastic times, when all your superheroes lived their lives in your favourite comics..." />

But don’t over tweak the content of meta-description tags. Search engines do not place much relevance to the text inside them. So don’t focus on getting the right combination of keywords for this tag.

Don’t use more than 200 characters and again try and use some synonyms.

Remember don’t just copy the title tag. The text that your visitors see when a search comes up with your site is their first impression of you. If a visitor sees the same text appearing twice in a search engines listing, it makes a bad first impression.

Importance of h1,h2 and other header tags

In order of importance it is highly likely that the <h1> tag is second only to the title tag. The <h1> tag is even more important than the content as far as ranking criteria goes.

Therefore your <h1> tags must contain your important AdSense focused keyword(s) at least once.

Keep you AdSense headlines short

Long headlines are generally not attractive; after all they are supposed to be succinct.

Remember that some search engines don’t use the meta-description tag to form their listing text but sometimes use the first words that appear on a page (which is often words contained within <h1> tags and the first few words of your content).

So <h1> tags have to be enticing and descriptive enough to encourage a click from prospective visitors. And again it has to be different from the text in your title tag.

Also use <h2> tags in your websites. Their on-page ranking relevancy isn’t as important as <h1> tags but they do have an effect. So try and use them when possible to boost the focus of your keywords.
