AdSense Facts and Figures

Here a few facts and figures. It is best that you digest this information before embarking on an AdSense venture.

  • On average a AdSense site only makes $5.00 a day
  • The amount paid per click is anywhere between $0.01 to $70.00
  • The average amount paid per click is approximately $0.50
  • Most AdSense sites have a Click-Through-Rate (CTR) of 0.75%
  • The biggest AdSense earner is reputed to be Markus Frind who is said to have earned in one month more than $800,000 from Google.
  • Apparently 54% of all AdSense publishers suffer from what is known as 'AdSense Fever'

What do the AdSense figures mean?

As you can see the figures make for interesting reading. For instance it seems that most people don’t make much money at all from AdSense (only $5.00 a day $150.00 a month, not really worth leaving your day job for is it?). But the scheme does have potential if used correctly as Markus Frind seems to have demonstrated.

Factors that can affect your AdSense venture

However, it is obvious that you are unlikely to get ads in the $50.00 range. You are more likely to get those in the lower $0.30 to $1.50 region. Therefore the amount of traffic going through your site and their CTR are going to be the factors that will determine how much money you will eventually make (to have a better idea of how traffic, CTR and ad cost all relate take a look at the AdSense calulator). Fortunately, these are the few factors that you do have control over.  And if you can tweak various aspects of your site so that you can get high numbers of traffic and a high CTR (values of 10% or above has been known to occur with certain niche AdSense sites) you will generate substantial AdSense income.

How do you plan for AdSense success?

So how can you get people to your site and how can you make them click on Google Ads without cheating?
Keyword popularity and ad placement optimization are a few measures that can help, but ultimately what will get visitors to your site will be patience and a lot of hard work.
To get people to your site you will have to market your web site diligently. You have to let people know where it is and what it does by selling it, promoting it and publicising it. But to prevent people ‘bouncing’ out your site as soon as they get there you have to deliver in terms of content. In other words your site has to be good.

To make all this happen requires work... a lot of it.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, after it’s done, you can indeed sit back and rest and enjoy the fruits of your labour. If eveything relating to your site is well executed and you have generated a good website with a good flow of traffic running through it, it can be left in the background to simply make money...

And about AdSense Fever...

A recent online study has discovered that 54% of all AdSense Publishers become addicted to the income potential of Google's Pay-Per-Click scheme. According to the survey the level of addiction can be so extreme that some Webmasters needed therapy and some were checking on their AdSense statistics more than 50 times a day.

There is no need to be so involved with your AdSense statistics when you join the scheme. It can potentially take over your life. Remember, to focus on your content. Make sure that its quality is good and if possible generate a lot of it.
